ANGELES CITY — A 17-year-old engineering student of the Holy Angel University (HAU) here was stabbed dead by a lone suspect at her apartment in Barangay Santo Cristo on Saturday.
Dannielle Huet Conde, a member of HAU’s Taekwondo team, sustained stab wounds on her right upper chest, with an artery near her heart damaged, said reports.
The victim was immediately taken to the Angeles University Foundation Medical Center by neighbors who heard her cry for help. Conde reportedly died two hours later.
Conde was inside the apartment when the suspect, who was described by witnesses as medium built, semi-kalbo (bald) and was wearing blue pants and gray shirt, gained entry.
The apartment is located at the second floor of the Baculi Apartments in the said area. Investigators said the suspect managed to enter by removing some glasses of the jalousie window.
Police said the suspect planned to rob Conde, who put up a fight as evidenced by signs of struggle.
After stabbing the victim, witnesses said the suspect boarded a red mountain bike with yellow orange rim and sped off toward Espeleta St. in Barangay Lourdes Sur East, straight to the old PNR railway.
Stolen items placed inside a bag, believed to be left in the area by the suspect, were recovered inside the victim’s room.
Robby Tantingco, HAU vice president for External Affairs and director of the Center for Kapampangan Studies, said the management of the school is assisting the relatives of the victim.
He said they are also facilitating the insurance claim of the family and the stress debriefing of the victim’s classmates.
“We are also coordinating with the police in order to identify the suspect,” Tantingco said.
Tantingco said hundreds of faculty members and students are expected to attend the wake at the Conde residence in Cristo Rey in Capas, Tarlac to show sympathy to the victim’s family.
Conde was the recently crowned Miss Engineering and Architecture and a varsity player for the taekwondo team of HAU.
Police said a flash alarm was disseminated to all stations and units for the possible apprehension of suspect. All available personnel of Police Station 6 were also dispatched to conduct a hot pursuit operation. (Sun.Star Pampanga/Sunnex)
