A 23-year-old housemaid is now in jail after her employer did not believe her story that she had been victimized by “Dugo-Dugo Gang” which took her bosses’ money and jewelry amounting to P1 million.
The Manila Police District-General Assignment Section (MPD-GAS) identified the maid as Lanie Adlano, of Tabangka, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.
The complaint against her was lodged by Elmer Villas, 65, an employee of Rural Bank Caloocan and residing at 2965 Limay St., Tondo, Manila.
Villas told the police that the suspect was all alone in the house when the incident happened, since he was at work while his wife was attending a convention.
When they arrived home at around 8 p.m., Villas said their son John Martin noticed that the door of the bedroom he and his wife occupy had been destroyed.
On inspection, Villas said their money and jewelry amounting to P1 million had been lost.
Adlano, meanwhile, claimed that a caller had told her that Villas met an accident. She was also allegedly instructed to get all the couple’s money and valuables from their bedroom and then bring them to an agreed meeting place.
Villas said he does not believe his maid’s alibi since he had been constantly briefing her about the said gang’s modus operandi.
As such, charges of qualified theft have been filed against Adlano before the Manila Prosecutor’s Office.
