MANILA – An assistant elections officer from Kalingalang Caluang in Sulu was arrested by Marine soldiers on Thursday after he was caught violating the election gun ban.

Col. Jose Johhriel Cenabre, commander of the 2nd Marine Brigade, said Del Mar Abdul was arrested inside a gym for carrying a caliber .45 pistol without an exemption permit from the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

“He was in the area where the PCOS machines are stored. He was found with a firearm without a permit,” Cenabre said.

“No one is above the law, even the designated officers (to supervise the elections) themselves…(Election) officers should also have complete papers (before carrying a gun),” he added.
