ANGELES CITY – A mother hooked on drugs stabbed dead her 8-year-old daughter inside theirapartment in Mt. View Subdivision, Bgy. Balibago, this city last Monday.
Chief Insp. Romeo Castro identified the victim as Sarah Gail Gloria, an elementary school student at the Saint Emiliana Academy of Excellence here, and the suspect has her own mother, Emelyn, 37.
Emelyn was reportedly confined for two months last summer at the Center for Mental Health in Mandaluyong City for drug addiction.
Investigation showed the suspect locked herself and her daughter inside their apartment Sunday night and did not allow anyone to enter.
Around 6:30 a.m. the next day, Emelyn was seen running out of the apartment with blood oozing from her stomach. Family members rushed her to the Ospital Ning Angeles.
Emelyn’s mother, Milagros, 63, immediately went inside the apartment to check on her granddaughter and was shocked to see her lifeless on the bed with stab wounds.
Milagros told the police that before the crime, she sought the help of the barangay officials to bring Emelyn again to a drug rehabilitation center, but she was told to come back on Monday because Bgy. Captain Rodelio Mamac was not available at the time.
Policemen who interviewed Emelyn at the hospital said she admitted stabbing her daughter then tried to kill herself with a kitchen knife.
