Doctor, teacher fall victims to Akyat Bahay gang

A notorious “Akyat-Bahay” gang broke into the houses of adoctor and a teacher in Mandaluyong City Thursday evening.

Police identified the first victim as physician David Cheu, 35, of Unit 405 , Felipa Mansion 11,  No. 66 Primo Cruz St., Bgy. New Zaniga, Mandaluyong City.

Cheu said he left home around 11 a.m.to attend to his patients at his clinic at the Mall of Asia in Parañaque City. When he returned home at 6 p.m. , he noticed the door of his condo unit was partially open. Upon inspection, he discovered that his laptop worth P50,000, two cellphones and some jewelry worth P150,000 were missing.

SPED teacher Rachel Ann Santiago, 23, of No. 411 J. Rizal St., Bgy. Namayan, personally lodged a robbery complaint to the Mandaluyong police.

Santiago told police she reported to work at the Independent Living Learning Center in Buenviaje St., Bgy. Plainview around 8 a.m. While in school, neighbor Lina Estrada called her up to inform her the front gate of her house was wide open and assumed someone had barged in.

Santiago went back home, saw the main door forcibly opened and her laptop, LED TV, wristwatch, wallet and assorted jewelry amounting to at least P60,000 were already missing.
