A DISPATCHER of public utility jeepney (PUJ) died after he was shot on Wednesday afternoon in Barra, Opol town in Misamis Oriental.
The victim is identified as Federico Halasque, 27, single, a native of Claveria town but was staying with his grandparents in Opol.
Police Chief Inspector Rogelio Labor of Opol Police Station said the victim was shot in the terminal in Barra by an unidentified man casually walking in the area.
Labor said Halasque sustained two gunshot wounds in the chest.
He said the victim even answered some questions of responding policemen while still in the crime scene but he died a few hours at the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC).
Witnesses said the suspect casually walked away from the crime scene after the incident and rode on a black Honda XRM motorcycle waiting just a few meters away.
Labor said witnesses failed to note the motorcycle’s plate number.
The victim has been detained twice for robbery and serious physical injuries and was a known “figure of bribery” in the area, Labor said. (Stephanie V. Berganio)
