Disgruntled worker, lover kill Muntinlupa vice mayor’s brod

MANILA, Philippines – A businessman, the younger brother of Muntinlupa Vice Mayor Artemio Simundac, was hacked to death after he figured in an argument with an employee in a bar he owns in Barangay Alabang just before dawn yesterday.

Senior Superintendent Elmer Jamias, Muntinlupa police chief, identified the victim as Carlito Simundac, 54, resident of Barangay Cupang. He was declared dead on arrival at the Ospital ng Muntinlupa.

Police said that at about 4:45 a.m., Simundac confronted employee Dante Galicia in front of the latter’s live-in partner, a certain Dodong.

Dodong went to the second floor of the Boracay Bar, located along East Service Road in Barangay Alabang, and came back downstairs armed with a bolo. Galicia held Simundac while Dodong hacked the victim in the neck and left hand, police said.

Police Officer 3 Rudolph Delmendo said they are conducting a follow-up operation to arrest Galicia and Dodong, who fled after the incident. – Rhodina Villanueva
