RESIDENTS of Sampaloc, Manila were shocked to find the body of a  newborn baby dumped near a sidewalk yesterday morning. 

PO2 Michael Maraggun of the Manila Police District-Homicide Section said the baby was found inside a box at around 9:10 a.m. 

A resident was said to have found the box lying near the sidewalk located at the corner of Pena and Tuazon Streets in Balic-Balic, Sampaloc and opened it out of curiosity.

To his surprise, he found a baby boy wearing with just a diaper.  Its umbilical cord was said to be uncut.

The baby was brought by concerned residents to the nearest funeral parlor for safekeeping as the one who threw it remains unidentified.
