A criminology student was gunned down Friday night in his neighborhood in Quezon City.
The victim, identified as Richard Samante, 25, a resident of 418 Asucena St., Barangay Central, Quezon City, died while being treated at the East Avenue Medical Center due to multiple gunshot wounds in the body.
Case investigator PO3 Erickson Isidro said that the incident happened at around 6 p.m. along Azucena St. a few blocks away from the victim’s house.
The victim’s cousin, Glen Ponce, told police that Samante left the house that afternoon to buy something to eat.
After the victim left, Ponce heard several gunshots outside their home.
Because of this, Ponce tried calling his cousin on his mobile phone to check what the gunshots were but the victim did not answer.
After a while, Ponce overheard from neighbors that barangay watchmen rushed an unidentified male to the hospital.
Upon hearing that, Ponce rushed to the hospital to check who the victim was and was shocked to find that it was his cousin.
Police said they remain clueless as to the motive behind the shooting as well as who could be behind it. Melnie Ragasa-Jimena
