MANILA, Philippines – A man and his wife were shot dead at a street corner in Makati City on Tuesday morning.

Police identified the fatalities as Rolando Torente and his wife, Vivian.

Initial police reports said that the couple was shot dead at the corner of Roma Amor and Floreville streets in Barangay Rizal.

Police said that one more person was injured during the shooting incident. The victim has been rushed to the nearest hospital.

Police have yet to determine the motive behind the couple’s killing.

The killing happened despite the police’s strict implementation of a nationwide gun ban for the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections. — Report from Dexter Ganibe, radio dzMM
