Cotabato candidate shot dead
AN independent candidate for city councilor in Cotabato City was killed and his two children slightly hurt after three armed men commandeered their pickup at Rosary Heights 11 district Monday morning.
A report to Camp Crame identified the fatality as businessman Joseph Khalipsar Kuan, 39, resident of Manara street, Cotabato City.
Kuan was with his daughters aged 14 and six on board their Nissan pickup (LDW-543) when the armed men flagged them down and commandeered their vehicle at around 7 am. Witnesses said they heard a gunshot from inside the pickup after a few minutes as Kuan reportedly tried to fight off the suspects. Kuan’s children were abandoned by the suspects who escaped on a motorcycle.
No clear motive has yet been established for the incident.
