PHILIPPINE National Police agents seized a cache of weapons and drugs in separate raids aimed at confiscating weapons that could be used to disrupt Monday’s barangay election.
At 6:30 a.m. yesterday, combined operatives of the Carles Municipal Police Station in Iloilo and the PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group raided the compound of Armando Andres in Sitio Tupad Sisa, Bgy. Punta Batuanan where they recovered 11 pairs of improvised blasting caps with time fuse, a pair of blasting cap, ¼ kilo of ammonium nitrate, a homemade 12-gauge shotgun, a Cal. .38 revolver and several ammunition.
The raiders were armed with a search warrant for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition and explosives issued by Judge Rogelio Amador.
Police Regional Office 6 director Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz Jr. said the suspect and the confiscated items were taken to the 6th Regional Criminal Investigation and Detection Group headquarters.
Criminal charges are being readied against the suspect by the 6th RCIDU headed by Supt. Nelvin Ricohermoso.
In Bauang, La Union, local police and Criminal Investigation and Detection Group operatives raided the house of Carl “Madoy” Abuan in Purok 5, Bgy. Parian Este 4:30 a.m. yesterday and arrested the suspect after they recovered a loaded Cal. .38 revolver, a 9mm magazine with ammunition, an Uzi airsoft with magazine, three plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, two tooters and suspected marijuana leaves.
