MANILA, Philippines — The Mandaluyong police are looking for a woman who allegedly took a three-month-old baby from her mother for a milk advertisement but failed to return the infant.
Senior Superintendent Florendo Quibuyen, chief of the Mandaluyong police, identified the wanted woman as Lovelyn Casipe, reportedly from Novaliches, Quezon City.
Quibuyen said the victim’s mother, Liezel Tugade Diamon, a 33-year-old jobless resident of Saluyot Street, Barangay (village) Addition Hills in Mandaluyong City, has not been able to contact Casipe since the latter took her baby.
Initial investigation showed that the two met only recently but Diamon agreed when Casipe asked if she would be willing to have her baby featured in a milk advertisement.
Diamon told the police that Casipe came to her house on Saturday morning, saying she needed to borrow the baby for the audition.
“Apparently, [Diamon] was offered a talent fee so she agreed to the offer,” Quibuyen said. “[Casipe] took away the baby but failed to return it after 12 hours so [the mother] filed a complaint with us,” he added.
Diaman also told the police that while she had been able to communicate with Casipe through text messages before, the latter could no longer be reached on her cell phone.
