MANILA, Philippines –  A Caloocan City policeman was charged with grave threat and physical injury after he allegedly kicked and pointed a gun at a Quezon City traffic enforcer.

The alleged victim, Alfredo Roldan, told News5 that Police Officer 2 Jonathan Aggalao got back at him after he flagged down the policeman’s motorcycle in Sauyo along Quirino Highway on Wednesday, March 20, because the vehicle didn’t have a side mirror and its registration plate was covered with paint.

Roldan said Aggalao was in plainclothes at the time and had a gun tucked on his waist.

Pinalampas ko na kasi may baril, pero binatukan n’ya ako bago umalis [I let him go because he had a gun but he hit me in the nape before he went away],” said Roldan.

On Tuesday, March 26, the policeman returned and allegedly maltreated Roldan by pointing his gun at the traffic enforcer after kicking him hard.

Prior to the March 26 incident, Aggalao on Friday, March 22, allegedly went back to the area where Roldan was assigned. But the policeman didn’t see Roldan there. The police officer instead talked to Roldan’s co-workers, among them, traffic enforcer Jemson Tamayo.

Aggalao allegedly told Roldan’s co-workers that he had lost P120,000 in a cockfight after he was accosted by the traffic officer and that Roldan should transfer to another assignment before he gets killed.

But Aggalao belied Roldan’s claim and said that he had decided to pull out his gun and kicked Roldan because the traffic officer’s co-workers were ganging up on him.

Roldan’s superior, Retired Col. Ramon Perez of the Quezon City Hall’s Department of Order and Safety, supported the traffic enforcer’s decision to pursue charges against Aggalao.

Hindi unang beses nangyari ito. Kadalasan minumura lang ang mga enforcer. Pero ito, binalikan eh. Masama ito. Mali ito [This isn’t the first time that it happened. Usually they just hurl invectives against enforcers. But in this case, he got back at him. This is bad. This is wrong],” said Perez on Tuesday.

But Aggalao countered that he was the victim in this case.

Pare-pareho ho tayong naka-uniform. Sana po magrespetuhan naman po tayo. Nagtatrabaho lang din naman po kami [We are all in uniform. I hope that we respect each other. We are just doing our job],” said Aggalao.
