MANILA, Philippines—(UPDATE) A vehicle of Zambales Representative Antonio Diaz exploded while parked inside the house of his executive assistant in his home province early morning Monday.
According to reports reaching Camp Crame, Diaz’s blue Toyota Hi-Lux pickup (WPY-829) was parked in the garage of Glenn Elayda, Diaz’s executive assistant secretary, in Purok 5, Barangay (village) Salaza, Palauig, Zambales when he and his family heard a loud explosion at around 2:40 a.m.
Initial investigation showed that Elayda and his family were awakened by the explosion and found the front portion of the vehicle already on fire.
Elayda also told police that he saw an unidentified person outside their fence escaping in the direction of the national highway.
Citing reports from Zambales police, spokesman Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz Jr. said no one was reported killed or injured in the explosion.
Police recovered from the scene a Molotov bomb around one meter away from the vehicle. The device was made of mineral plastic container. Police believed the device was hurled from a distance of around one meter.
Police are still investigating the incident as of posting time.
