KIDAPAWAN CITY — A coconut farmer, who went missing on Monday, was found dead in a pond in a remote village in Matalam, North Cotabato, at around 8 a.m., on Wednesday.
Senior Inspector Elias Dandan, chief of Matalam police, identified the victim as Junie Andres, 53, of Sitio Molita, Barangay Linao in Matalam.
Dandan, citing as basis the testimony of Nenita Andres, said the victim’s body was found floating in a fish pond, just few meters away from their house.
Based on the post-mortem examination, the victim sustained injuries on his head and some parts of his body.
Relatives hinted the victim could have died of drowning after he fell from a coconut tree.
They told authorities the victim has no known enemies in their village.
The police, however, have yet to dig deeper their probe to check if, indeed, there was no foul play in the victim’s death. (MCM)
