CEBU – Cebu customs police intercepted 5 smuggled firearms from Australia and the US on Wednesday, authorities said.
The firearms confiscated were two 9-millimeter pistols, one M16 armalite rifle, one .22 caliber pistol and one .357 revolver.
The Bureau of Customs (BOC) will file a case of illegal importation against the consignees of the shipment, Ronald Banks and Zack Zeigler.
The firearms were declared as used household goods and personal effects.
Meanwhile, BOC personnel also raided on Wednesday a commercial establishment in Barangay Pusok, Lapu-Lapu City for selling counterfeit bags, watches and eyeglasses.
A source from customs said the store is owned by a Korean national.
The business permit is registered to a certain Teresa Hubahib, who was given 3 days to present documents that they have paid taxes for selling the products.
The store has been in operation for two years.
The BOC has closed and sealed the door of the store pending the verification of important documents.
