MANILA, Philippines – A carpenter was shot dead in Pasig City before dawn on Tuesday.

The victim, identified as Jopet Abila, was shot at least 12 times. His body was found along F. Soriano Street in Barangay Palatiw.

A witness said he saw at least three men leaving the area after hearing several gunshots. The motive for the shooting remains unclear.

Abila’s live-in partner, Rachel Valera, said the victim left their house at around 10 p.m. to talk to someone who offered him a job.
