A candidate running for mayor of San Jose town in Tarlac died after being shot seven times during a meeting.

Rudy Abella, a former barangay captain, was shot while delivering a speech during a barangay caucus in Sitio Sta. Cruz, Barangay Iba in San Jose, Tarlac around five in the afternoon of Monday.

Abella was later brought to the Central Luzon Doctor’s Hospital in Tarlac City but doctors were unable to revive him.
