CALABARZON police probes Cavite, Laguna shootings

MANILA, March 2 – CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon) police on Tuesday said it is investigating the shooting to death of two businessmen in Cavite and Laguna provinces.
Tagaytay police chief Supt. Dexter Rellora said Vicente Lepardo, 40, a used car trader was shot dead by still unidentified men near his establishment in Barangay Kaybagal South, Tagaytay City at about 10:40 a.m. Monday.
Rellora said Lepardo was talking with a client when two men riding in tandem on a motorcycle approached him from behind and shot him with a .45 cal. pistol.
In Laguna, grocery store owner Ferdinand Sanchez, 44, was shot dead inside the public market of Biñan town around 3:30 p.m. Sunday.
Sanchez, a resident of Brgy Dela Paz, was sitting outside his store when a suspect, identified as alias Boy Ilong, appeared with a .45 cal. pistol and shot him several times.
Witnesses said the gunman, together with his companion identified only as Yao Ming, escaped after the incident and are now the subject of a manhunt operation. (PNA) RMA/JCA
