MANILA — A journalist in Cagayan de Oro City is planning to file a case against a re-electionist vice mayor for dragging him from the room where a meeting of the town’s excise tax board was held last Monday.
Angelito Rulona, correspondent of Gold Star Daily, said he was taking video footage of the meeting inside the office of Alubijid, Misamis Oriental Mayor Alvin Giovanni Labis when Vice Mayor Emmanuel Jamis ordered him to leave the area.
Rulona then introduced himself to Jamis but the official allegedly took him away from the room and threw his bag outside.
“Unsa man, mosukol ka nako? (So what do you want? A fight?),” Rulona quoted Jamis as saying.
According to the National Union of Journalists of the Philippines (NUJP), Rulona had already reported the incident to Alubijid police and to his editor-in-chief.
Jamis is a member of the ruling Liberal Party. (Virgil Lopez/Sunnex)
