MANILA, Philippines—A butcher stabbed dead his fellow goat meat vendor in Quezon City allegedly because he was selling their employer’s meat a lower price than directed, police said.

The victim, Jimbo Torrico, 27, died on the spot after suffering two stab wounds in the back on Friday night.

Police said the suspect, known only as Jon-jon, fled immediately after the stabbing, which took place at around 7:30 p.m. at a meatshop on Commonwealth Ave.

Case investigator SPO2 Neil Garnace of the Quezon City Police District’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit said Torrico and the suspect worked together as goat meat butchers at the Jun Liit Goat Meat Shop in Barangay Commonwealth.

But according to Garnace, Torrico was selling the meat at a lower price and this angered Jon-jon.

Torrico and the suspect, both residents of Halamanan Area in Commonwealth, were arguing outside the establishment heatedly over the prices.

To avoid further confrontation, Torrico went inside the meat shop. The incensed Jon-jon, armed with a knife, followed Torrico inside and stabbed him twice in the back, Garnace said.

The victim died on the spot while the suspect fled on foot with his knife.
