CEBU, Philippines – Two men were arrested after breaking Monday dawn into a house in sitio Ampalaya in barangay Cambaro, Mandaue City and fleeing with roughly P100,000 in cash and jewelry.
Janikko Bongo, 22, of Purok Sampaguita in barangay Cambaro and Allan Gullimas, 18, of barangay Looc, Mandaue City were arrested by men of the Investigative and Detective Management Branch with the help of victim Melanie Konno, 36.
IDMB investigator SPO1 Marcos Noval said Konno saw Bongo at the gate of her house at around 2 a.m. last Monday.
“Namat-an sa biktima nga mipaka ilang gate ug maoy iyang nakit-an si “Ikoy” (referring to Bongo) apan wa lang siya nagpakabana kay silingan ra man gud ug gani kini si Ikoy mao ni iyang sugu-sugo-on sa una sa dihang naa pa siyay tindahan busa wa lang dyud siya nagpakabana gumikan sa kasuod sad,” Noval said.
When she woke last Monday morning, she found her wallet, which contained P30,000, gone.
The money was meant for her children’s tuition.
Also missing were some pieces of jewelry and two cellular phones.
She also discovered her screen door’s lock destroyed.
Konno told police she saw two men who she knew in the premises of her house just before the incident happened.
Police arrested the two men at sitio Sampaguita at around 11:30 p.m. last Monday.
Recovered from Bongo was P1,000 and P11,000 from Gullimas, who was drunk when arrested.
Both men asked for forgiveness and promised to return the stolen items.
But Konno will file cases against the men who are detained at the Opao police station. (FREEMAN)
