A 42-year-old Japanese national lost his expensive gadgets and wallet containing cash to a group of criminal elements called ‘Bulabog Gang’ in Ermita, Manila.
Yoshitomo Nakata, a driver who had visited the country as a tourist, told PO3 Gilbert Isole of the Manila Police District-General Assignment Section (MPD-GAS) that he had just alighted from a bus in front of the Rothman Hotel on Adriatico Street in Ermita when three men and a lady approached him. He was there looking for a hotel where he could stay while in the country.
Two of the men and the lady offered him a magazine while another went behind him. While he was talking to the two in front of him, the other guy got himself preoccupied with stealing the victim’s digicam and wallet which were then inside his knapsack.
When the suspects left, the victim found out that he had lost his wallet containing P8,657 and his digicam worth P19,000.
The suspects failed to get his cellphone since he was holding on to it, along with the rest of his money.
Meanwhile, a barangay tanod was shot in the head pointblank by a still unknown assailant in Tondo, Manila the other day.
Dead on the spot due to a lone gunshot wound in the head was victim Rodrigo Leuterio, 45, a barangay tanod of Barangay 30 Zone 2 and residing at 227 Mabagos St., Tondo, Manila.
A probe made by SPO1 Marlon San Pedro of the Manila Police District-Homicide Section showed that the victim had just eaten snacks at an eatery when the incident took place at 3:15 p.m. at the corner of Zaragosa Street and Road 10.
Leuterio was reportedly walking away from the eatery when a man, placed between 35 and 40 years old, walked alongside him and then shot him in the head without any warning. The victim died instantly.
