MANILA, Philippines – Education Secretary Bro. Armin Luistro visited the wake of a high school teacher stabbed dead by her student in Caloocan City.

“Ang suggestion ko, siguro mas importante munang mabigyan sila ng panahon para magluksa,” said Luistro.

Teodora Soner, a teacher of the Manuel Luis Quezon High School, was fatally stabbed by her 15-year-old student on Friday.

“Medyo mahirap intindihin ang nangyari. Sa parte ng bata, di natin maintindihan kung bakit nagawa niya yun, sa parte ng pamilya, di nila maintindihan kung bakit ganoon nangyari sa kapatid nila,” Luistro said.

The suspect is now under the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Caloocan City.

“Iyon yung mahirap sa sitwasyon nito. Walang may gustong mangyari pero mahirap ipaliwanag sa parehong parte. Sasamahan ko sila sa kanilang pighati,” he said.

It was learned that Soner told the boy to cut his hair, otherwise she would tell his parents that he belonged to a fraternity.

The following day, the boy, accompanied by a friend, waited for his teacher and stabbed her in the back.
