Boy, 16, mauled, stabbed by 3 men

CEBU, Philippines – A 16-year-old boy landed at the hospital after mauled and stabbed by three unidentified men shortly after midnight yesterday in Barangay Buhisan, Cebu City.

The victim, identified as Junrey Fernandez, an out-of-school youth, and resident of the area sustained a stab wound on his back.

Fernandez alleged that he was walking on his way to a nearby store to buy a cigarette when three young men on the roadside blocked him and one of them told him, “Ngano naghilabot man ka namo?”

The three men then allegedly helped one another in punching and kicking him, and when he fell on the ground, one of the suspects stabbed him in the back.

The perpetrators then fled leaving behind the victim, who was rushed by neighbors to the Cebu City Medical Center for treatment.

Fernandez said he could not identify the suspects but said he believes the motive was personal grudge. — Niña G. Sumacot/WAB      (FREEMAN NEWS)
