A 21-YEAR-OLD man celebrating his birthday was shot dead by an unidentified assailant in barangay Cantuod, Balamban town, southwest Cebu.

Rogie Napoles Jamandron, 21, was attacked while walking to the house of his friend to charge his cell phone past 10 p.m. Monday.

Police said the victim had just arrived from Cebu City to celebrate his birthday.

Police said the assailant positioned himself in a dark area under a bridge.

The victim sustained gunshot wounds in different parts of the body. He was died while being rushed to a hospital.

Recovered from the crime scene were eight empty shells of a .45 caliber pistol.

PO2 Godofredo Dumdum of the Balamban police station said there were reports that the victim was implicated in robberies and dealing in illegal drugs./CORRESPONDENT JOY CHERRY S. QUITO
