THE wife of a village chief was killed while a couple were wounded in a grenade explosion inside their house in Lamitan City, Basilan.

Basilan police director Senior Supt. Mario Dapilloza identified the fatality as  Sapiya Mansul, wife of Barangay Chair Gais Mansul, of Oval, Bgy. Matibay, Lamitan City.

Taken to the hospital for treatment were Reynaldo Delos Santos and his wife Sonia.

The incident occurred at around 5:20 a.m. while the victims were sleeping in their house when unidentified suspects hurled the explosive.

Police recovered a safety pin for a grenade beside the entrance door of the house and a fuse assembly.
