A VILLAGE chief and his wife were abducted by unidentified armed men on board a motorboat  the other day in Lantawan, Basilan.

Basilan police director  Senior Supt. Mario Dapilloza identified the victims as Pilardo Roxas Francisco, village chief of Bgy. Landugan, Lantawan, and his wife Saharina Francisco, both residents of Bgy. Townsite, Maluso, Basilan.

The incident occurred at around 10:20 a.m. on Nov. 16 off Basilan.

Investigators said the victims were onboard a motorboat on their way home from Landugan when they were waylaid by eight armed men wearing camouflage uniform aboard  a motorized banca locally known as “jungkong.”

The suspects forcibly took the victims and brought them to an unknown direction.

The incident was reported to the police by the victims’ son identified as Jhayco SalvadorFrancisco, 19.

Police are now conducting follow-up investigation into the incident.
