MANILA, Philippines—A barangay watchman in Manila was stabbed to death early Thursday morning by a truck driver, who was reportedly angered after he was told to park his truck properly.

Norman Salinas, 29, a barangay tanod of Barangay 28 Zone 21, of Hinahon Street in Tondo, was declared dead on arrival by attending doctors of the Gat Andres Bonifacio Memorial Hospital from multiple knife wounds in the body.

Operatives of the Manila Police District (MPD) homicide section fanned out in search of Crisanto Estrada, a driver of White Eagle Trucking Corp., who fled after the incident.

Police investigators obtained his identity through a delivery receipt left on his truck as well as a confirmation of his employment at the trucking company.

Reports from the MPD homicide section revealed that the incident happened at around 4:30 a.m., at the corner of Zaragosa and Mithi Streets in Tondo.

Based on the report, Estrada had parked his trailer truck at the street corner to do some small repairs on his vehicle.

Noting that the truck was obstructing traffic, Salinas approached Estrada and ordered him to move his vehicle. The driver boarded the truck but alighted from the vehicle later.

Estrada then approached the village watchman and stabbed him repeatedly before fleeing, leaving behind his truck.

Bystanders took Salinas to the nearest hospital where he later died of multiple stab wounds.
