THE baby snatcher entered the house through the window. Light as a feather, she walked on tiptoes. Then she spotted her target — one-month-old Sophia  deep in slumber beside her sleeping mother. Skillfully, the thief slid her arms under the little body, lifted it and cradled the victim to her chest. The suspect probably smiled and thought, “This is just like a game of pick-up sticks.”    Reports showed the one-month-old baby was abducted while  the mother was sleeping inside their house in Purok 7, Bgy. Malanday, Marikina City last Nov. 30.

Rachel Baloro raised suspicions that her neighbor whom she  identified only as “Lotlot” had abducted her child.

Baloro said she fed her child at 12 a.m. When she woke up at 3 a.m., the baby was gone.

The distraught mother said that when she was eight months pregnant, Lotlot said she wanted to adopt the child. The suspect offered P3,000 to Baloro.

The suspect may have entered the house through the open window of the Baloro’s family.

Anyone who might have seen the child and can provide information may contact the Baloro family by calling 945-9436 or 0921-990-8952.

Meanwhile, a newborn was snatched by unidentified suspects from a mother who just gave birth at a lying-in clinic in Marikina City last Nov. 28.

Jovelyn (not her real name) said she gave birth last Nov. 27 at a lying-in clinic in Bgy. Malanday.

At 2 p.m. the following day, Jovelyn and her husband decided to go home. They were waiting for a tricycle on the other side of the clinic when a van stopped in front of them. An unidentified man and a woman alighted from the vehicle and poked a gun on them.

The woman grabbed the child from Jovelyn. The suspects sped away after the abduction.

Police are now conducting follow-up operations on the baby snatching incident.
