GENERAL SANTOS CITY, Philippines—Call it sweet revenge.

Two motorcycle-riding hitmen died shortly after pumping bullets into their victim.

The victim, identified by the police as a certain Moner Buday, a resident of Alabel town, Sarangani province, managed to ram his vehicle against his attackers before dying.

Supt. Rolly Octavio, deputy police chief here, told the Philippine Daily Inquirer that Buday, aboard his pick-up truck, was traversing the Leon Llido Street around 1 p.m. Saturday when he was pursued by the gunmen.

Upon reaching the corner of San Pedro Street extension and Leon Llido Street, the gunmen pulled up alongside the victim’s vehicle and shot him in the neck, Octavio said, citing investigation reports.

But before the victim died, he smashed his vehicle against the motorcycle of the gunmen, Octavio said.

“The two (gunmen), who remain unidentified as of now, died on the spot. We managed to identify another suspect who served as look-out but we are not divulging his name so as not to jeopardize ongoing police operation,” Octavio said.

Two bystanders—identified as Melvin Cambarijan, a resident of Leon Llido Street, and Raymond Bagaforo of Malandag village, Malungon town, Sarangani—were injured when they were hit by the speeding vehicle.

“Based on our initial investigation, the incident has something to do with the dispute involving quarry operation along Buayan River in Alabel,” Octavio said.

He added that the two gunmen had already collected the initial P20,000 contract price to kill Buday.

“We will know in due time the identities of the (gunmen) and the mastermind once the other suspect is arrested,” Octavio said.

Homer Buday, uncle of the victim, said they were not aware that his nephew was facing a threat to his life.

“He did not mention that somebody wanted him dead,” the elder Buday said.
