CEBU, Philippines – Two unidentified men on a motorcycle shot dead a car watcher along A. Soriano St., Barangay Mabolo, Cebu City, past 7 p.m. last Thursday.
The fatality was identified as Anecito Languido Ruiz, married, a resident of barangay Carreta and native of Barangay Tagnukan in Borbon town.
The assailants, who allegedly hid their faces with cloth, were also wearing ball caps and sleeveless shirts.
Police said that the victim was standing by the side of the road watching cars when the two assailants came on board a black motorcycle.
The man riding pillion reportedly disembarked, approached Ruiz and suddenly shot the victim several times.
The shooter went back to the awaiting motorcycle that was last seen heading towards the North Reclamation Area.
The victim, who sustained several gunshot wounds to the head and body, was rushed to the Cebu City Medical Center by his two sons where he was declared dead on arrival.
The police recovered nine empty shells and two slugs of a 9mm cal. pistol from the crime scene.
Ruiz’ body was taken to St. Francis Funeral Homes for autopsy.
PO2 Michael Codaste of the Homicide Section said there are people who could have harbored a grudge against the victim regarding his work.
