MANILA, Philippines – A 15-YEAR-OLD high school student was shot and wounded by two men as he was walking on the street at a few minutes past midnight on Saturday, the police said on Sunday.

Superintendent Marcelino Pedrozo, commander of Station 6 of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), said the teenager was a student of Batasan High School and a resident of Barangay Batasan Hills in Quezon City.

Pedrozo said the victim was on his way to buy something from a store in the neighborhood at around 12:10 a.m. on Saturday when he was attacked.

Without provocation

A police investigation showed that the two men blocked the boy’s path and then without any provocation, shot him.

Pedrozo added that the teenager sustained a gunshot wound and was taken by bystanders to a hospital where he remains confined.

The motive for the attack was still being investigated as the boy has yet to talk to police probers, Pedrozo said.

He said they were hopeful that the victim would be able to identify his attackers.
