CAVITE, Philippines – A police intelligence operative was shot dead by an armed group in General Mariano Alvarez town in Cavite province, Monday night.

Superintendent Cosme Abrenica, Cavite provincial police’s intelligence branch chief, identified the slain policeman as Police Officer 2 Marvin Restrivera.

Abrenica said Restrivera and other members of the intelligence branch were dispatched to check reports of the presence of armed men in Barangay Granados.

Upon reaching the area, the police intelligence team was fired at by the armed group.

The policeman sustained multiple gunshot wounds and died in a hospital while undergoing treatment.
