MANILA, Philippines — One of two alleged robbers was shot in an encounter with responding policemen along Osmeña Highway in Makati City Friday morning.

The suspect, identified as Ronel Uno, sustained a gunshot wound on the back.

Uno’s cohort was able to escape while Uno was arrested after the motorcycle they were riding was hit by a cement mixer along the southbound lane of the highway in Barangay Bangkal.

Uno was brought to the Pasay City General Hospital for treatment.

Police said the two suspects figured in a robbery incident in Barangay Palanan early morning on Friday.

One of the responding policemen, identified as SPO1 Donie Tidang, also sustained wounds and scratches after his scooter slid while running after the suspects. — Report from Dexter Ganibe, dzMM
