A MEMBER of the airport police died after his fellow officer accidentally shot him on the face inside their barracks yesterday.

PNP-Aviation Security Group commander Chief Insp. Sandro Tafalla identified the fatality as PO1 Junomar P. Salmo, 26, and the suspect as PO1 David Christian C. Mariano, 23, both of ASG Special Operations Unit.

Tafalla said that Salmo and Mariano, along with three other policemen, were joking  when the tragedy happened at 9:30 a.m. 

Witnesses said that while joking and playing around, Mariano poked his Glock 9mm pistol at Salmo’s right cheek and pulled the trigger. 

He died while being rushed to the San Juan de Dios Hospital.

Mariano was locked up in jail. He admitted  killing his colleague.
