CAMP OLIVAS — An Aeta, who is said to be a campaign leader of a vice mayoralty candidate here, was killed by a still unidentified gunman inside his nipa hut in Sitio Dueg, Barangay Maasin, San Clemente, Tarlac recently.

In a report, Senior Superintendent Alfred Corpus, Tarlac provincial director, identified the victim as Anastacio Pelacio, a resident of Barangay Maasin of the said town.

Corpus said the victim was with his wife and two children when the incident happened around 7 p.m. last week.

Investigation said that an armed man wearing maong pants and T-shirt entered the nipa hut and asked the victim’s wife on his whereabouts.

After finding the victim, the gunman reportedly urged Anastacio to surrender his firearms, one folded shotgun and an airgun. The suspect then shot Anastacio after handing over the guns, the report said.

Corpus said the victim died due to severe gunshot wounds.

The suspect immediately fled towards an unknown direction, bringing with him the guns.

Initial investigation conducted by police pegged robbery with homicide as the motive behind the killing. But sources disclosed that Pelacio is the Dueg campaign leader of Pogi Apostol, San Clemente vice mayoral candidate of Lakas in the province.
