CEBU CITY, Philippines – A local actor was shot dead in Cebu City on Sunday night after he was mistaken for a gunman by village militiamen, reports said.

Kirk Abella was shooting documentary film “Going Somewhere” in Barangay Parian when the incident occurred.

The film is being produced by London-based Alan Lyddiard.

Abella, who was riding a motorcycle, was playing the role of a mugger, reports said.

The scene, however, allegedly caused alarm among the populace.

Barangay Tanod Eddie Cuizon, who was caught unaware, allegedly pulled out a gun and shot the actor.

Cuizon is now in jail and is facing charges of homicide and violating the Commission on Elections gun ban. – report from Reno Tallada, ABS-CBN News Central Visayas
