ABRA — A farmer was shot by an unidentified suspect/s in Sitio Sapdaan, Bgy. Cosili West, Bangued town the other day.
Police identified the victim as Jovy Yao Molina, 34, married, resident of the said place.
Investigation showed the victim, together with Carmelo Blaza Turqueza, 33, Christopher Blaza Turqueza, 31, Abel Blaza Alvarez and a certain Berto Blaza, all of Bgy. Cosili West, Bangued, went to the ricefield to watch over their harvested palay.
While the victim was cooking food for dinner, successive bursts of gun fire were heard, hitting his in the left buttocks.
The victim crawled away from the area while his companions scampered in different directions. After the incident, the victim was brought to Abra Provincial Hospital in Bangued by his companions for confinement.
The suspect/s escaped. They are now the object of a manhunt operation. A SOCO team recovered eight fired cartridge cases for cal. 5.56 and a (1) slug for an undetermined caliber.
The motive behind the attack is yet to be determined.
Police are conducting further investigation into the incident.
