ABRA — A barangay chairman was shot to death by an identified suspect on Purruganan St., Zone 6, Bangued, at 6:15 p.m. the other day.

Police identified the victim as Barangay Chairman Raymund Bustamante Evangelista, 42, married, of Sinapangan, Bangued, and the suspect as Berto Belesario, of the same place.

Investigation conducted by Bangued Municipal Police Station showed that the suspect invited the victim to their house to talk.

When the victim, together with Melchor Yves Sibayan, was on their way to the suspect’s house, they were peppered with bullets.  The victim was killed on the spot while his companion escaped unharmed.

The suspect immediately fled.

Police believed that the suspect used a cal. .45 in shooting  the victim. Motive of the gun attack is still being determined by police probers.
