MANILA, Philippines — An eight-year-old girl was found dead under a bridge in San Francisco, Agusan del Sur Tuesday morning, authorities said.

The victim was reported missing on Monday night by her mother, Elsie Bongcaoel, after she failed to come home from school.

Bongcaoel later found out her daughter was not able to go to her class on Monday afternoon.

The girl’s naked body, along with her school belongings, was found under a bridge at around 5 a.m. Tuesday.

Police said her body sustained a gunshot wound in the head.

Senior Insp. Ephraim Detuya, chief of San Francisco police, said a witness saw two men carrying the body of the victim.

One suspect has already been arrested by authorities. Police, however, refused to identify the suspect since his alleged cohort still remains at large.
