OTABATO CITY, Philippines (Xinhua) – Eight people were killed after a bomb exploded inside a passenger bus they were boarding in North Cotabato province today, a military official said.

According to Lt. Col. Randolph Cabangbang, a Rural Transit bus was traversing the national highway in Dalapitan, Matalam, North Cotabato, around 10:40 a.m. when an improvised bomb planted inside the vehicle went off around 10:40 a.m.

“There were eight fatalities based on the report of our men at the site,” Cabangbang said.

Several were also wounded.

No group claimed responsibility for the attack.
