MANILA, Philippines — Eight suspected bodyguards of Camarines Sur Governor Luis Raymond “LRay” Villafuerte were arrested in Naga City Monday night for violating the election gun ban.

Among the eight were three former military personnel.

They were arrested after police were tipped off about an armed group in the area.

The suspects attempted to evade arrest but were eventually caught while on board a government vehicle that also yielded campaign materials.

Recovered from the suspects were six firearms.

They will be charged for violating the gun ban and for using a government vehicle for an election campaign. — Report from ANC
