A 77-YEAR-OLD businesswoman was robbed and killed by an unidentified suspect on Friday in  Bgy. Nagba, Maasin, Iloilo.

Police Regional Office 6 director Chief Supt. Agrimero Cruz Jr. identified the victim as Caridad Marcabebe, a widow engaged in selling bamboo  and other products in the province.

The old woman sustained five stab wounds that caused her instantaneous death.

Friday morning, the victim left her house to visit her son, Edwin, 37, who is living at a nearby barangay.

Authorities said the victim might had been tailed by the suspect while on the way to her son’s house. She resisted the robbery prompting the suspect to stab her.

The suspect took the victim’s money amounting to P40,000.

After a few hours, the victim’s body was found by her 5-year-old granddaughter, Rhian Joy, at a vacant lot a few meters away from their house.
