KIDAPAWAN CITY — A 71-year-old farmer was found dead in his farm lot in Barangay Takepan, Pikit town in North Cotabato province around 8 a.m. Tuesday, police reports said.

Chief Inspector Jordine Maribojo, chief of Pikit Police Office, identified the victim as Bienvenido Pano, resident of Barangay Takepan, Pikit.

Maribojo said the victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds in different parts of his body.

Maribojo, citing witnesses, said gunshots were heard at Barangay Takepan, two hours before they discovered Pano’s body.

Relatives told authorities they have no idea as to who might be behind Pano’s murder as the victim has no known enemies in the community.

Police, however, do not discount the possibility that the killing could be due to land conflict.
