CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna – Five alleged members of a kidnap-for-ransom (KFR) gang were killed in a shootout with authorities in Cavite early Saturday morning.
The suspects snatched 3 people, including 2 Indian nationals, in Marilao, Bulacan, police said.
Police have yet to identify the slain suspects who abducted Pavitter Singh, Balvir Singh and Luciano Clemen last October 14, 2010 at Liaz Marilao, Bulacan.
Cavite Provincial Director, Senior Superintendent Danilo Maligalig, said the victims were rescued in a follow-up operation at Barangay Santiago, General Trias, Cavite at around 2:35 a.m. Saturday.
During the rescue operations, 2 suspects were killed when they figured in a brief firefight with police. Three others managed to escape on board a red unlicensed Avanza.
The operating team then chased the fleeing suspects who didn’t stop at a checkpoint set up by the Imus Police Station. The encounter resulted in the deaths of the 3 suspects.
Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) recovered 3 caliber-45 pistols, 1 caliber 9mm, 1 caliber 38 revolver and 1 Toyota Avanza with plate number ZMU-370 owned by the victims.
The victims were brought to the Police Anti-Crime and Emergency Response (PACER) for documentation.
