ARMED robbers struck in broad daylight in Quezon City and carted away more than P1 million in cash intended for the salary of employees of the Pasig River Rehabilitation Commission (PRRC), a police official said Sunday.
In a report, Superintendent Lino Banaag, chief of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD-CIDU), said four armed masked men on two motorcycles grabbed P1,336,312 during the robbery that took place at about 11:50 a.m. Friday along Xavierville Avenue near Langka Street in Project 2.
Banaag said the three PRRC employees had just withdrawn the money from the Landbank branch on Katipunan Road and were on their way back to the office when the gunmen blocked the path of their Honda Civic.
The employees, administrative assistant 3 Johnny Rolloque, 27; administrative Assistant 3 Guillermo Abejo, 35; and administrative staff Wilfredo Patiag, 22, said the robbers had helmets and bonnets.
One of the gunmen pistol-whipped and punched Abejo and Rolloque when they tried to resist, police said.
