TAGUM CITY, Philippines – Police authorities are tracking down four young men who allegedly knifed to death two police volunteers inside a karaoke joint in this city early Friday.
Superintendent Giusseppe Geralde, Tagum police chief, identified the victims as Arsenio Sabawan, a member of the city government’s Civil Security Unit, and Russel Canobida, a police auxiliary member.
Geralde said the incident happened at 4:30 a.m. while the victims were having drinks inside the Davaweña Videoke House on Gante Road.
The police official said investigators were still determining what provoked the attack.
“What was certain as of this time is that four unidentified youths aged 20 to 25 stabbed the victims several times in the body which resulted in their deaths. We have invited witnesses to the incident for the investigation and for us to get an artist’s sketch of the assailants,” Geralde told the Philippine Daily Inquirer by phone, adding the victims and the assailants are customers of the establishment.
