Three suspected robbers, who had allegedly just robbed a jeepney, were gunned down in an encounter with police officers in Manila, dawn Tuesday.
The incident occurred near the corner of C.M. Recto Avenue and Tomas Mapua Street in Manila, radio dzBB’s Rodil Vega reported.
Manila Police District Station 3 commander Superintendent Ricardo Layug said the three boarded the Cubao-Divisoria jeep near the corner of Recto and Evangelista.
When the jeep reached Avenida Street, the three allegedly declared a holdup and took the passengers’ valuables.
As they got down, however, the commotion they made attracted the attention of a police patrol team, which tried to accost them.
The policemen were then allegedly fired upon, and the law enforcers returned fire, killing the suspects.
Recovered from the three were cal-.38 handguns, with one of the suspects still holding a bayong taken from one of their victims, the report said. — DVM, GMA News
